What may cause myopia?
Myopia is becoming a serious problem in more and more countries. Especially in urban areas in Asia, almost 90% of young people develop myopia before the age of 20- a trend that continues worldwide. Studies predict that, by the year 2050, nearly 50% of the world's population could be shortsighted.In a worst-case scenario, early myopia can lead to the emergence of progressive myopia, a severe form of short-sightedness: a person's vision may quickly deteriorate at a rate of one dioptre per year and turn into high myopia, which increases the risk of other eye problems, such as damage to the retina or even blindness.
Uo SmartVision Lens adopts circle pattern design to evenly decrease the power, from the first circle to the last one, the defocus quantity is gradually increasing. The total defocus is up to 5.0~6.0D,which is suitable for almost all kids with myopia problem.
Design Principles
The human eye is myopic and out of focus, while the periphery of retinal is far-sighted. lf myopia is corrected with conventional SV lenses, the periphery of the retina will appear farsighted out of focus, resulting in an increase in the eye axis and a deepening of myopia.
The ideal myopia correction should be: myopia is out of focus around the retina,so as to control the growth of the eye axis and slow down the deepening of the degree.
